KCMO Trash Pickup This Week: Recycling & Bulky items 2023

Waste management is a significant responsibility that everyone should consider. With the daily influx of waste generated by homes and businesses, it is essential to have a well-organized and efficient KCMO garbage collection system to avoid public health problems and environmental damage.
Ensuring that garbage is promptly and systematically put out for collection is of utmost importance to maintain a well-oiled waste management process. This helps keep the surroundings clean and ensures that the garbage is disposed of efficiently. Therefore, following a KMCO trash pickup schedule is crucial for an effective and orderly process. That's why residents must comply with the responsibility of putting out their garbage bags at the times established by local authorities.

What time does waste management pickup in KCMO?
Regarding trash collection, it's important to remember that your trash must be placed at the curb at the appropriate time. Place your waste at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on the designated collection day to ensure it is collected on time. This is an efficient approach to mitigating the issue of littering, which commonly arises due to animals scavenging through trash bags during the night, to implement measures that deter such behavior.
However, you shouldn't put your trash at the curb before 3 p.m. on the previous day. For example, if your waste is scheduled for collection on Wednesday, you must place it at the curb before 7 a.m. on Wednesday but after 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

KCMO Recycling Day 2023
Participation from citizens in KCMO trash pickup and recycling programs plays a crucial role in preserving the environment. These programs are designed to encourage and empower individuals to keep their surroundings clean and green actively.
During the spring and summer of 2023, all households will receive a recycling cart and essential information on recycling day and the correct recycling method. The recycling cart has two wheels and a lid to make it easier to keep the recyclable materials dry and tidy.
- Monday (Green): Phase 1 (started on May 1).
- Tuesday (Blue): Phase 2.
- Wednesday (Pink): Phase 3.
- Thursday (Lilac): Phase 4.
- Friday (Yellow): Phase 5.
Before placing items in the recycling, remember to remove any food remnants and rinse containers. It's also crucial to avoid putting garbage bags on the recycling containers, which could lead to confusion and contamination. Lastly, avoid bagging your recyclables to prevent them from spoiling due to contact with liquids.
NOTE: The recycling truck will pass by every week on the calendar’s agreed-upon days.
Recycling and non-recycling items
Recycling is a valuable process of converting waste into reusable materials. This process helps reduce the amount of waste in landfills and contributes to a healthier environment. Recyclable items are carefully sorted and processed to create new products. However, things that are not recyclable can become a problem when it comes time to dispose of them, so differentiate between recyclable and non-recyclable waste.
